once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with PM Bob Hardie's ten-time world champion Muirhead & Sons Pipe Band. Under the legendary guidance of Hardie, John was to learn and experience the best of what the band world had to offer. Within two years, John was to become Pipe Major. The competitive record of Toronto & District Caledonia Pipe Band, North American Champions in 1991 and again the next year, Ontario Champions Supreme, 1991, winners of the popular Santa Rosa, California competition, regularly in the top group in the World Pipe Band Championships - the outstanding success of the band is irrefutable. |
In 1992 "T & D" became the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band, continuing the standards of excellence already established. In
1995 John stepped aside from the Pipe Major's position but remained
with the band in a significant leadership role
by continuing
to use his experience to produce a world class tone. In 1999 John
resumed his role as Pipe Major of Grade 1 Peel Regional Police Pipe
